8th Grade Honors English, Creative Writing,
8th Grade Honors English is one class period that integrates reading and writing using the pre-AP Springboard curriculum. Students in Honors English also read a variety of books independently, including The Outsiders, The Giver, and the Holocaust memoir Night. Creative Writing is a semester class that gives students the opportunity to hone their skills as creative writers as they draft poems, short stories, and extended narrative pieces. The AVID Elective gives students the opportunity to participate in a unique college-prep class that explores colleges and careers, all while receiving tutorial support for rigorous honors courses.
Hello! I'm excited to be teaching at DRJHS for my 16th year. I love this school and am proud to say that I have taught here since the school opened in 2001. I have been an 8th grade teacher in the Gilbert district for 17 years. As a graduate of the University of Arizona, I am a huge college basketball fan. Go Cats! I have a Master's degree in Secondary English Education from Northern Arizona University. In my free time, I enjoy reading young adult literature, shopping, and spending time with my family.
